Introducing the Connecticut Animal Population Control Plate.

When an animal is adopted here in Connecticut this offer is available

through the Department of Motor Vehicles for various fees.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each plate helps to provide

vaccination/sterilization benefits for any Connecticut resident who adopts a pet

from a municipal pound through the Dept. of Agriculture, Animal Population

Control Program.

IMPORTANT FACTORS FOR PURCHASING A PLATE

Over 20,000 dogs, cats, puppies & kittens end up in CT

pounds each year (10 million nationwide).

Some were lost, abandoned or just unwanted & unfortunately,

there just aren't enough good homes for all of them.

Municipalities spend thousands of dollars to address the

problem of unwanted & stray animals every year.

Significant resources are spent rescuing, feeding & caring

for pets in hopes of reuniting them with their owners & to

adopt or humanely destroy.

67,000 dogs can result from one unspayed female dog in six years.

420,000cats can result from one unspayed cat in seven years.

Spaying (female) helps to eliminate chances of uterine

infections & mammary cancer.

Neutering (male) helps to eliminate aggression & the urge to roam.

In 3 years (1995-98), the APCP has provided benefits to over 10,000

pound pets & their new families.
